Fantastic Negrito is a powerhouse performer whose live shows are charged with emotion,
intensity, and connection. Blending Delta blues, soul, funk, and rock, he delivers dynamic sets
built on rhythm, storytelling, and fearless expression. The Oakland-born artist — a three-time

engaging, unforgettable experience.
From Glastonbury to Newport Folk, Fantastic Negrito captivates audiences with his mix of grit,
humor, and raw honesty. His performances turn struggle into celebration, and his songs take on
new life each night, reshaped by the moment and the crowd.
Every show is a testament to the power of live music to inspire, challenge, and bring people
together.
Since winning NPR’s inaugural Tiny Desk Contest, Fantastic Negrito has shared stages with the
likes of Bruce Springsteen, Chris Cornell, and Primus, and has collaborated in the studio with
Sting, E-40, Tank and the Bangas, and many others.
He is also busy producing other artists featured on his independent record label, Storefront
Records.
Critically acclaimed and blessed with a voice described as ‘raspy,’ ‘sassy,’ ‘raunchy’ and ‘sweet ’n soulful,’ Bette grippingly fuses the soul, rock & roll, funk, blues and gospel she heard in her Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn youth into something all her own – deeply genuine and entirely invigorating.
Bette is recording a new album produced by Cody Dickinson – 6x Grammy nominee and co-founder of North Mississippi Allstars – and is honored to collaborate with some of today’s leading artists on the project.
The young Bette Smith would have no idea that her music would take her around the world, from shows headlining and supporting the likes of Kenny Wayne Shepherd and the Drive-By Truckers to festivals in North America and Europe; from working with artists Jimbo Mathus, Kirk Fletcher and Patterson Hood to spotlights in the pages of The New York Times, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Paste, American Songwriter and beyond; from the airwaves of NPR World Café and the Top 40 Americana Radio Chart to official Spotify playlist adds. MOJO called her ‘the next big-voiced soul sensation out of Brooklyn.’
In 2024, Bette traveled to the UK to make her album Goodthing (Kartel Music Group) with Grammy award-winning producer Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, James Blunt, Sia, Tina Turner). Hogarth attests, “Bette is the real deal. Her delivery is the truth and comes straight from the heart. She is able to communicate with ease with her wonderful gift of a voice and I was delighted to work on this record.”
Bette’s electrifying live events and intensely human songwriting offer hope, strength and passion while keeping her brand of soul music fiercely alive.
Bette’s 2026 touring included performances in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Romania and France.
